About Us
From the gas station to the wide world
The foundation stone for JUNAKii was laid on the beautiful Swabian Alb in the idyllic, historic half-timbered town of Trochtelfingen. The commander of a volunteer fire brigade on the Swabian Alb and acquaintance of the two co-founders Raphael and Paul had the idea of creating new products from discarded operational clothing. He felt that discarding it was a waste of resources. Paul has been a textile entrepreneur since he was 19. He met the commander by chance while filling up with petrol and was so impressed by his enthusiasm that he spontaneously agreed to implement this vision in the team. The team was soon expanded to include Raphael, who is responsible for marketing and organisation.

According to the EU Commission, around 5.8 million tonnes of textile waste are disposed of every year.* On average, every European produces a medium-sized suitcase of textile waste every year.** This suitcase is enough for a good week's holiday.
By recycling textiles, we can save resources together. The production of the material causes the greatest CO2 emissions in the production of backpacks. That is why we have consciously decided to upcycle existing material.
Wearing a JUNAKii product also means wearing a philosophy. The philosophy of making a small contribution to a better future with creative sustainability, uniqueness and passion.
But the most sustainable way is to only buy what you really need.

Production
For us, sustainability is not just about the product, but also about production and the social responsibility we have as entrepreneurs. This means that we try to make both upstream and downstream processes (production/sales) as sustainable as possible. For this reason, we only produce high-quality products under fair working conditions in Europe. It is part of our philosophy that people and nature are treated fairly.
In order to minimize cutting waste, we use cutting scraps to produce smaller items, such as wallets. The operational clothing used was developed for the toughest conditions and is therefore very robust and durable.
